 12th Annual C.A.S.U.A.L. Day Co-Chairs Named

Theodore Uroskie, MD and Q. Thomas Novinger, MD, MBA were recently named co-chairs for the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute’s 12th Annual C.A.S.U.A.L. (Colon cancer Awareness Saves Unlimited Adult Lives) Day. Theodore Uroskie, MD, of Clarks Green, is a retired obstetrician/gynecologist. He has volunteered for the local Disaster Action of the Red Cross, Disaster Health Service of the Red Cross, and national Disaster Services Human Resources System of the Red Cross. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and Hahnemann Medical College (Now Drexel University College of Medicine). Q. Thomas Novinger, MD, MBA, of Mountain Top, is the senior medical director for Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania. He was previoulsy the medical director at the Geisinger Health Plan in Danville, Pennsylvania with responsibility for Health Care Services, Eastern Region and Medical Informatics. Cancer Institute Names Community Relations Coordinator

Amanda Marchegiani, of Archbald, has joined the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute as the community relations coordinator.  She is responsible for increasing awareness and enhancing the image of the Cancer Institute and its programs and services among the medical communities. Amanda received her bachelor’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University in communications with a focus in public relations and a master’s degree from Marywood University in communication arts. Prior to her employment at the Cancer Institute, she served as the communications specialist at The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce.

Scranton Area Community Foundation Cites NRCI's Patient  Navigation Program For Community Impact

  The Board of Governors of the Scranton Area Community Foundation recently cited the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute Patient Navigation Program for its “significant and positive impact on our community” as part of the Foundation’s celebration of its 60th Anniversary. Cancer Institute Welcomes Regula, Farrell, Belleman & Aquilina to Board of Directors

Jackie Brozena, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute, recently announced the appointments of John Regula, Timothy Farrell, M.D., Mindy Torbik-Belleman and Anthony Aquilina, D.O. to the Board of Directors. Mindy Torbik-Belleman MS, RN, is the Chief Nursing Officer at Regional Hospital of Scranton. Prior to this position, Mindy has worked with a variety of hospitals within the region. She received a master’s degree in Human Resources Administration from the University of Scranton and a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration from St. Joseph’s College in Maine. She earned her Nursing Diploma from Pittston Hospital of Nursing. Mindy has over 35 years of experience in the healthcare industry.   John Regula currently serves as the Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Allied Services of Pennsylvania. Northeast Regional Cancer Institute C.A.S.U.A.L. Day Committee Finalizes Plans

Members from the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute’s C.A.S.U.A.L. (Colon cancer Awareness Saves Unlimited Adult Lives) Day planning committee are preparing for the 12th annual colon cancer awareness campaign. The event is set for Thursday, March 26th. C.A.S.U.A.L. Day is held in memory of Helen Phillips, a local woman who died from colon cancer in 2002.  It is a dress down day held at the end of March each year. Proceeds stay in northeast Pennsylvania to benefit the Cancer Institute efforts to raise colorectal cancer awareness and support colorectal cancer screenings for low income, uninsured, and underinsured individuals through their Patient Navigation program. Participants dress “casual” on March 26th by wearing a specially designed T-shirts and pins. In the evening on March 26th, a wrap-up celebration will be held at Trax Platform Lounge in the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel Scranton from 5-7 PM.
