Wayne County Community Foundation Awards Grant to Cancer Institute
The Wayne County Community Foundation (WCCF) recently awarded a $1,000 grant to the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute, a local nonprofit organization seeking to ease the burden of cancer in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The grant will help cover transportation costs for individuals involved in the Cancer Institute Community Based Cancer Patient Navigation program. Benefitting local low-income residents, the Navigation program guides individuals through the process of cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment.
“We are most grateful to the Wayne County Community Foundation for supporting this and other community health programs of the Cancer Institute,” said Bob Durkin, Cancer Institute President. “It means a great deal to us and our partners – including the Wayne Memorial Community Health Center, that such efforts have the support of community leaders.”
