Spirit of Hope Celebration Raises Over $52,000 for Northeast Regional Cancer Institute
The Northeast Regional Cancer Institute board of ambassadors and associate board of ambassadors met in early May at Montage Mountain for a wrap-up meeting of the 2017 Spirit of Hope Celebration and a kick-off meeting to plan the 2018 event. The Ambassadors presented the Cancer Institute with a $52,100 check.
The Board of Ambassadors, a group of community volunteers, hosted the sixth annual Spirit of Hope Celebration in November 2017 at Mohegan Sun Pocono. This year’s theme was Hope Anchors the Soul. More than 350 people were in attendance. The event featured cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, music, and a live and silent auction.
Paul and Sharon LaBelle were the Tribute to Courage honorees recognized at the event. Paul and Sharon have supported the Cancer Institute through their Judi H. Rock On event and Sharon is a cancer survivor. Proceeds from the event benefited the Cancer Institute’s Patient Navigation Program. This program helps low income and un/underinsured individuals in northeast Pennsylvania get their recommended colorectal, breast, and cervical cancer screenings.
