Community-Based Cancer Screening Navigation Program
Cancer Screening Navigation Program Public Service Announcement
NRCI thanks WNEP-TV for their continuous support of this program.
The Community-Based Cancer Screening Navigation Program has been recognized as a model for community-based cancer screening.
The Northeast Regional Cancer Institute Community-Based Cancer Screening Navigation Program helps low income, uninsured, and underinsured individuals who are not up to date with breast, cervical, colon and lung cancer screenings.
Recognizing that the healthcare system can be difficult to navigate, especially for those without sufficient insurance, the program provides individualized assistance to guide participants through the process of screening and if necessary, treatment and aftercare. The program also includes help finding resources to overcome barriers to screening, such as transportation and childcare needs, as well as matching participants with a primary care physician/practice for future preventative care.
The goal of this program is to increase screening compliance, help find cancer earlier or prevent its development entirely, and ultimately improve the health and potentially save the lives of our most in-need neighbors.
