Samuel Lesko, MD, MPH Presents Local Study at PA Medical Society Annual Meeting
Samuel Lesko, MD, MPH, Director of Research/Medical Director at the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute recently presented at the Pennsylvania Medical Society annual House of Delegates in Hershey, PA.
The session, which was entitled “Overview for Physicians on Marcellus Shale Natural Gas Fracking,” was attended by approximately 200 physicians from across the state.
Dr. Lesko spoke about the Community Health Survey currently being undertaken by the Cancer Institute to establish baseline health data of residents in areas of Northeast Pennsylvania where natural gas drilling has occurred or is likely to begin. Two other speakers also shared insight on related topics during the 90-minute session.
The Northeast Regional Cancer Institute is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to easing the burden of cancer in Northeastern Pennsylvania. 100% of Cancer Institute resources are invested in the region and programming focuses on community and patient services, hospital and practice support services, and epidemiology research.
