The Northeastern Pennsylvania Health Care Foundation awarded the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute a $15,000 grant. The grant was awarded in 2018.

This investment will support the work of the Community-Based Cancer Screening Navigation Program for underserved residents of northeastern Pennsylvania to facilitate breast, cervical, colon, and lung cancer screenings. The Navigation Program helps identify and reduce barriers related to screening completion and diagnostic follow-up (if needed) while establishing or re-establishing medical homes for the target population. Currently, the Navigation Program helps low-income individuals who are not up to date with these four evidence-based cancer screenings.

“We are very grateful to receive this grant from the Northeastern Pennsylvania Health Care Foundation. These funds will help support cancer screening education and outreach services in our community,” said Laura Toole, Executive Vice President at the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute. “When talking about cancer we know that screening saves lives.”
