Join Us for the 21st Annual Cancer Survivors Celebration!
Cancer survivors, caregivers, and oncology medical professionals are invited to connect and reunite with each other at the 21st Annual Cancer Survivors Celebration hosted by the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute.
This year, participants can choose between two locations/dates for the event. Survivors Celebration will be held on September 21, 2013, at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre from 12pm – 2pm and on September 28th at McDade Park in Scranton from 10am – 12pm.
The highlight of this year’s celebrations will be the “Circle of Survivors.” This activity will allow those in attendance the opportunity to share a thought or inspirational message about their cancer experience. Individuals who have participated in the “Circle of Survivors” in the past have found it to be a very meaningful activity. Some participants simply thank their loved ones or doctors, others might share a funny anecdote, some share something very insightful, and other people choose not to say anything at all. Regardless of how someone participates, the strong feeling of connection and support touches everyone.
“It was the most rewarding experience I have ever had. The love that was shared was remarkable and overwhelming,” said Georgette Mecca, who is Co-Chair of the planning committee for this year’s event, along with Mary Erwine, RN, MSN, and Joseph G. Ferguson, Esq.
Before and after the “Circle of Survivors” activity, guests will be able to partake in light refreshments and sign a survivor’s banner. Conversation and connection are also encouraged as everyone is given an event program that doubles as an autograph book. Those who attend will also be able to pick up an awareness ribbon and commemorative pin as keepsakes.
To register for the event, or for more information, please call the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute at 1-800-424-6724 or Click Here. Please respond prior to September 13th.
