Cancer Institute Receives Donation in Honor of Former Coach/Educator

ScrantonCheckPresentationScranton High School students recently held a dress-down day in honor of former coach and educator Bill Tonkin, who died of cancer earlier this month (November).

A member of the Scranton School District presented a check to the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute for $7,300 at the organization’s recent Spirit of Hope Celebration held at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

The Northeast Regional Cancer Institute is a nonprofit community-based agency serving 7 counties in northeast Pennsylvania with offices located in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre. Focusing on surveillance, community and patient services, and hospital and practice support services, the Cancer Institute invests 100% of its resources locally.
