Cancer Institute Announces Promotion, New Hires
The Northeast Regional Cancer Institute recently announced the promotion of Jane Oswald and the additions of Lisa Molinari, Stacey Velez, and Cindy Shoemaker to the staff.
Oswald of Scranton, formerly the Tobacco Outreach Coordinator at the Cancer Institute, is now in the position of Cancer Patient Navigator. In her new capacity, she will be working with uninsured and underinsured individuals to facilitate access to the full continuum of cancer care from screening to detection, diagnosis, treatment, and aftercare.
Velez, of Scranton, has filled the role of Tobacco Outreach Coordinator. She is responsible for planning and implementing the organization’s tobacco programs.
Velez received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Wilkes University. She has received training in the “Freedom from Smoking Model,” and also trained through the Mayo Clinic in accordance with the “Clean Air For Healthy Children Act.”
Molinari, of West Scranton, and Shoemaker, of Henryville, have joined the Cancer Institute as Cancer Health Educators. Both are responsible for the coordination and presentation of community cancer education programs.
Molinari received a bachelor’s degree in health education from Oswego State University and a master’s degree from Marywood University in nutrition.
Shoemaker received a bachelor’s degree in community health education from East Stroudsburg University and has more than ten years of experience in the community health field.
