Back Mountain Memorial Library Hosts Display of Cancer Survivor Art

Back Mountain Memorial Library Hosts Display of Cancer Survivor ArtThe Back Mountain Memorial Library, Dallas, will host the “Tiles: From Tears to Triumph,” art display throughout the month of December. The display, created by the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute, features replications of ceramic tiles that were painted by Luzerne County cancer survivors and caregivers through an art therapy project.

Through the project, participants were encouraged to express their feelings about their cancer experience by painting a tile. Art therapy is often used to help cancer patients express their emotions, reduce stress and provide a sense of relaxation.

Pictured with some of the art from the display are (from left to right): Christine Zavaskas, Community Relations Coordinator, Northeast Regional Cancer Institute and Krista Connolly, Interlibrary Loan & Circulation Coordinator, Back Mountain Memorial Library.
