“Spirit of Hope” Raises Thousands for Cancer Institute
Members of the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute Board of Ambassadors recently met for a wrap-up discussion of the Spirit of Hope Celebration. During the meeting, the group presented the Cancer Institute with a check for nearly $45,000.
The Board of Ambassadors, a group of community volunteers, hosted the second annual Spirit of Hope Celebration in November at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. Proceeds from the event benefit the Cancer Institute’s Patient Navigation Program. The program helps low income and un/underinsured individuals in northeast Pennsylvania get their recommended colorectal, breast, and cervical cancer screenings.
More than 200 people attended the event. Cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, music, and a live and silent auction were all part of the evening’s festivities. The feature of the celebration was a Tribute to Courage, which honored two prominent local individuals, both diagnosed with forms of cancer.
The Cancer Institute is grateful to the Board of Ambassadors for their support and to all the community organizations and individuals who helped make the second annual Spirit of Hope Celebration a success.
