C.A.S.U.A.L. Day Co-Founders Recognized for Service
Michael Moran of Clarks Summit and Maura Phillips Staback of Eynon were recently recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals NEPA chapter at its National Philanthropy Day Luncheon as “Outstanding Volunteer Fundraisers.” The brother and sister team are the co-founders of the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute’s C.A.S.U.A.L. (Colon cancer Awareness Saves Unlimited Adult Lives) Day.
C.A.S.U.A.L. Day is an annual dress down day held at the end of March that raises awareness of colon cancer in northeast Pennsylvania and teaches the importance of screening and early detection. It is a tribute to Michael & Maura’s mother, Helen Phillips, who passed away from colon cancer in 2002. It is also the Cancer Institute’s largest fundraiser. The next C.A.S.U.A.L. Day is scheduled for Thursday, March 27, 2014.
