Greater Scranton YMCA to Host New Program for Cancer Survivors
LIVESTRONG at the Greater Scranton YMCA is a free, twelve-week small group program designed for adult cancer survivors. This program fulfills the important need of supporting the increasing number of cancer survivors who find themselves in the transitional period between completing their cancer treatment and the shift to feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to attempt to return to their normal life or their “new normal”. The program is conducted outside the medical facilities to emphasize that LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is about health, not disease. The program will include group exercise classes for all ability levels that focus on social engagement, nutrition counseling, increased stamina, improved balance, muscular strength, and yoga. Classes will be held on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:30 – 7:00 pm September 3rd – November 21st. For more information, contact the Greater Scranton YMCA at 570-342-8115.
