Friends, Family Rock On in Memory of Local Breast Cancer Victim
Friends and family of a woman from Dunmore who lost her battle with cancer in 2007 have banded together to plan a one-of-a-kind fundraiser in her memory.
The Judi H. Rock On Memorial Fund is raffling off a one-of-a-kind pink guitar nicknamed, “The Pink Lady.” The guitar was donated and signed by renowned guitar maker Paul Reed Smith. It is valued at around $5,500. All of the proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute, a local nonprofit that has been easing the burden of cancer in Northeastern Pennsylvania for almost 20 years.
The Judi H. Rock On Memorial Fund is in memory of Judi A. Perry Hartridge, a wife, mother, and nurse who succumbed to breast cancer in 2007 at the age of 43. To honor her generous and loving nature, a group of family and friends led by her uncle, Paul J. LaBelle, wanted to do something in her memory. Labelle, a professional musician, and guitarist for Exact Change, naturally incorporated his love for music into the plan and asked for the guitar to be made.
Tickets for the raffle are $20 each and the drawing will take place on February 11, 2011, during a celebration (with music by Exact Change) at the Scranton Country Club. To purchase a ticket, or for more information, visit www.judihrockon.com or call the Cancer Institute at 1-800-424-6724.
