Prostate Cancer Awareness Initiative Provides Life-Saving Information to Local Golfers

Prostate Cancer Awareness Initiative Provides Life-Saving Information to Local GolfersGolf members of the Glenmaura National Golf Club recently were part of a unique initiative to raise awareness about prostate cancer.

The Prostate Cancer Awareness Alliance of Northeast Pennsylvania (PCAA) and the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute partnered with the golf league to create specialized score cards for their members. The cards featured information on prostate cancer risk factors, symptoms, and screening methods, along with photos and quotes from members of the league who are prostate cancer survivors.

In addition to the score cards, the Cancer Institute also distributed related informational material and Viewmont Medical Labs provided free onsite PSA (prostate-specific antigen) testing to members. PCAA hosted a raffle as an incentive for participants who were willing to get tested.
