The Northeast Regional Cancer Institute recently recognized WNEP-TV for its support to the Cancer Institute’s annual colon cancer awareness campaign, C.A.S.U.A.L. Day (Colon cancer Awareness Saves Unlimited Adult Lives). C.A.S.U.A.L. Day is a dress down day held at the end of March to raise awareness about colon cancer in northeast Pennsylvania and spread the word about the importance of screening and early detection. Participants dress “casual” while wearing a specially designed pin and/or t-shirt.

Through the generosity of WNEP-TV’s PSAs featuring newscaster, Tom Williams, shown from February through March, the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute reached every demographic and was featured throughout the entire broadcast schedule daily. The PSA educated the northeastern Pennsylvania community on the importance of colon cancer screenings and early detection. WNEP-TV has been a partner for C.A.S.U.A.L. Day since 2009.
The Northeast Regional Cancer Institute, a local non-profit, has been easing the burden of cancer across the region for more than twenty years.  Proceeds from C.A.S.U.A.L. Day benefit Cancer Institute efforts to raise colorectal cancer awareness and support colorectal cancer screenings for low income, uninsured, and underinsured individuals in northeast Pennsylvania.
