23rd Annual Cancer Survivors Day Set for September 12th & September 26th

Cancer survivors, caregivers, oncology medical professionals and healthcare professionals, current patients and anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis are invited to connect and reunite with each other at the 23rd Annual Cancer Survivors Day hosted by the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute. This year participants can choose between two locations/dates for the event. Cancer Survivors Day will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre from 10 am to 12 pm and on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at McDade Park in Scranton from 10 am to 12 pm. Each event will include the “Circle of Survivors,” an activity where those in attendance will be able to share a thought or inspirational message about their cancer experience. Additionally, there will be a survivor’s banner, survivor and caregiver ribbons & pins, autograph books/programs, and light refreshments. Cancer Institute Names Registry Staff Assistant

lindaLinda Hirjak, of Dickson City, has joined the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute as a registry staff assistant. She is responsible for maintaining the Cancer Registry, assisting the Vice President of Registry Services, as well as general administrative duties. Read more

Thousands of participants across several counties purchased 5,000 shirts and approximately 3,500 awareness pins as part of the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute’s 12th annual C.A.S.U.A.L. (Colon cancer Awareness Saves Unlimited Adult Lives) Day, held on March 26, 2015.
